History:
Hooboy. Roxas is a Nobody, a physical shell created when a person of strong will gets Heartlessified. Cast by the Keyblade Master, Sora, Roxas was 'born' with the ability to call and wield keyblades and was quickly snapped up by Organization XIII for their own use. After making only one significant connection within the Organization, Roxas deserted it to seek answers about the Keyblade and his Other and crap like that. He was hunted by both the Organization and the Organization’s enemies, got captured by the latter, got stuck in the mini Matrix for a while and was made to believe he was a real boy, found out otherwise, broke some computers, was set on fire by his ex-best friend, threw a stick at Riku, met Namine, and was reabsorbed by his Other in the end. Tragically.

TL;DR Personality:
Roxas might as well be said to have a split personality, or even several, and they’re all at war with each other. As #XIII of the Organization, he’s a powerful agent for a revolutionary organization bent on creating their own haven whether the humans like it or not, and conducts himself just like the antisocial bastard one would expect in that role. He can be cold, blunt, calculating, outwardly insensitive to everything except his particular mission goal, and aggressively violent if he thinks it’s necessary. He takes no crap from the other Organization members (excepting Axel and Xemnas) despite being the youngest, and is often closemouthed, surly, and stoic in the company of people he doesn’t trust or particularly like, which is probably half of the Organization. He is constantly aware of his own position as a stranger among the rest of the Nobodies, being a Keyblade Master and associated with Light and personally recruited by Xemnas as something like a pet project. Roxas is ‘special’ and hates it and can’t do anything about it, and so wavers between stoic uncaring silence and defensive temper. Since the Heartless constantly swarm after his Keys, Roxas is literally being hunted at all times and knows the protection of the Organization is something he can’t lightly discard, so he goes out of his way to make excuses for their actions and intentions and convince himself that he’s Doing The Right Thing by staying with them and going along with their plans. He clings stubbornly to the idea that Xemnas is somehow, somehow basically working towards the benefit of all ‘denizens of darkness,’ especially those like the Nobodies who are not actually inherently evil but are treated like it by humans who assume anything not Light aligned (or human, really) doesn't deserve to exist. That sort of high ideal is the only thing that lets him turn a blind eye to the Organization's methods. Roxas isn't much of a villain, but he is one of those strong willed and well-intentioned people who will commit terrible violence in the name of a greater good, feel guilty about it afterwards, and then keep right on going.

The myth surrounding Keyblades is always present in the back of his mind. He knows very well that Keyblades belong to Keyblade Masters and Keyblade Masters are legendary saviors of the universe, knights in shining armor who uphold peace and balance and rescue princesses and all that kind of crap, and that he doesn't measure up to it in any way. And while Roxas would be the first person to deny that he is or wants to be any kind of hero, he is driven by the same basic impulses that drive Sora, and the one of these is Justice Kid. The idea of saving people resonates very strongly with him. Heroism and especially being ‘worthy’ of the Keyblade are terribly important to him since those things are the most obvious ways of proving himself better than Sora.

Once Roxas is absorbed and becomes fully aware of Sora’s memories and relationship to him, the resentment kicks in fast and hard. Roxas has a terrible, terrible temper (like the wiki says, he’s an extreme version of Sora’s personality) and a very ugly and irrational hatred of his creator, who is easiest to blame for everything bad that’s happened in Roxas’s life. Which is a lot. Including secondhand murder.

He is silently terrified that there is nothing individual about him at all and everything he thinks, feels, or does is subject to Sora’s overwhelming influence, that he really is nothing more than a shadow enslaved and inferior to its caster. Even his relationship with Naminé is possibly colored by Sora’s emotions and Roxas can’t stand that. The only things in the universe that are truly his are his relationship with Axel and his (fake) friendship with Hayner, Pence and Olette.

Everything Roxas knows about human conventions he learned from Twilight Town, and his civilian persona is sometimes the first thing that comes to the fore even when he’d prefer otherwise. Roxas as a civilian is polite, quiet, and a little bit melancholy, usually the kid that has to be dragged into things by a more enthusiastic friend. He gets along with adults and is shy around girls like a normal schoolboy and is generally a much more subdued personality, completely opposite the aggressive and self-righteous #XIII. He would never admit it out loud but the chance to be normal and ordinary, even in a dream, was probably the best time of his short life, and he bitterly regrets being torn from it even as he equally regrets not running to Axel and letting himself be rescued.

Has a Princess complex. Would like to brick Riku in the face a few times but only if Kairi and Naminé weren’t watching. Will break anyone who suggests that he’s a child, and has a pathological weakness for redheads.

He will also sometimes do things simply to prove to himself that he isn't Sora. Many of these things are not well thought out, or can otherwise be considered stupid.
